We are seeking a highly experienced Analyzer Specialist to lead the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of analyzer systems under the Main Automation Contractor (MAC) framework.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful deployment and integration of complex analyzer technologies across 18 Analyzer Houses, 8 Analyzer Shelters, and numerous field analyzers, all interfacing with plant control systems.
The position also requires strong leadership in environmental compliance, cybersecurity, and regulatory reporting, particularly in collaboration with Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) and Environmental Department.
What are you going to do
Leadership and Oversight
Lead analyzer scope execution under the MAC Manager, ensuring alignment with project milestones and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with EPC, MAC, and vendor teams to ensure timely delivery, installation, and commissioning of analyzer systems.
Analyzer Infrastructure and Systems
Oversee the construction, energization, integration, SAT & ISAT of:
Lead loop checks, SAT/ISAT, calibration, configuration, and functional testing.
Ensure integration with DCS, CEMS DAS, AMADAS via 4-20mA, Modbus TCP/IP, or other protocols.
Validate firmware/software updates, cybersecurity patches, and backup/recovery procedures.
Start-Up and Turnover
Coordinate analyzer system turnovers in alignment with process unit completions.
Ensure analyzers are fully operational and validated for process safety, product quality, and environmental compliance.
Support performance testing and optimization during start-up.
Environmental Compliance and Stakeholder Interface
Ensure all CEMS systems meet Qatar MoECC environmental regulations and reporting standards.
Collaborate closely with the Company’s Environmental Engineer to interface with MoECC and Q-Chem Environmental Department.
Ensure CEMS DAS systems meet cybersecurity requirements per Qatar’s National Information Assurance Standard (NIA V2.1)
Oversee CEMS DAS SAT execution, ensuring report formats comply with MoECC and internal standards.
Cybersecurity and Data Assurance
Ensure analyzer systems and DAS infrastructure comply with Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) standards for data integrity, access control, and secure communication
Implement cybersecurity controls for analyzer networks, including clock synchronization, VPNs, and secure remote access.
Spare Parts and Interchangeability
Develop and maintain spare parts interchangeability lists across analyzer types and vendors.
Ensure critical spares are available and compatible across similar systems to minimize downtime.
Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination
Interface with analyzer vendors for technical support and site services.
Ensure vendor specialists deliver services as per MAC schedule and scope.
Collaborate with QA/QC, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve field issues and RFIs.
Training and Documentation
Ensure vendor-led training sessions are conducted and documented.
Review and approve O&M manuals, and calibration procedures.
Change Management
Support MAC Manager in managing scope changes, MOCs, and technical deviations related to analyzer systems.
Essential skills and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 10 years in analyzer engineering, testing, commissioning, start-up and maintenance within oil & gas or petrochemical megaprojects.
Strong understanding of process analyzers, sample systems, and integration with automation systems.
Proven leadership in managing multi-vendor analyzer packages and infrastructure.
Familiarity with Qatar’s environmental laws and cybersecurity standards
Strong communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
