Introduction

Brunel is seeking a General Manager to work with one of our clients in the oil and gas industry. This would be for a permanent contract to work in Georgetown, Guyana full-time or in a rotational schedule.

What are you going to do

The General Manager provides overall leadership and direction for the company, with accountability for Profit & Loss, commercial performance and operations. The role requires strong technical expertise in offshore fabric maintenance, including scaffolding, coatings, rope access, and insulation services-combined with strategic leadership to deliver safe, profitable, and sustainable growth.

Main Functions:

  • Ensure the highest technical standards in offshore fabric maintenance service delivery, including compliance with international standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Oversee quality assurance, technical audits, and continuous improvement programs across offshore and onshore operations.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all operations meet or exceed HSE requirements.
  • Provide visionary leadership to management teams, aligning divisional priorities with Board- approved strategy.
  • Function as senior ambassador for the company with regulators, industry associations, and clients to strengthen the company's reputation and influence.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and capability-building across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure the Board of Directors is informed of all initiatives and developing issues, whether positive or negative.
  • Lead implementation of in-country business development and approved strategic growth initiatives.
  • Primary point of contact with key client personnel to ensure thorough understanding of client requirements and continuous relationship improvement.
  • Be accountable for the attraction, retention, and extension of key contracts.
  • Identify operational and commercial risks of the business and ensure implementation of appropriate processes to manage.
  • Develop and justify operating budgets for delivery service.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline), Business Administration or trade certification and experience or combination of previous.
  • Advanced technical qualifications in offshore fabric maintenance or industrial services considered an asset.
  • Formal leadership or executive management training preferred.
  • Proven technical expertise in offshore fabric maintenance (scaffolding, coatings, rope access, insulation) with the ability to evaluate, guide, and continuously improve service delivery.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership with full P&L accountability.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills at Board, client, and regulatory levels.
  • Ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams in complex offshore environments.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), diplomacy, and cultural awareness.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with contracts, insurance, pricing, and risk management.
