Introduction

Brunel is seeking a highly analytical and strategic Corporate Development Advisor to join our client's Corporate Development Team on a contract basis. This team plays a critical role in advancing long-term business growth by evaluating and supporting new investment opportunities. The successful candidate will contribute to strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, organic growth projects, and innovation-driven development efforts.

What are you going to do 

  • Develop and support financial models, valuation assessments, and business cases to inform executive-level decision-making.
  • Monitor industry news and trends to identify emerging risks and opportunities relevant to the business.
  • Prepare detailed presentations and reports for senior leadership and Board-level review, articulating the economic benefits, risks, and strategic alignment of proposed initiatives.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across business units, asset management, and Finance to contribute to long-term asset and capital planning.
  • Evaluate and support inorganic growth opportunities aligned with the organization's broader strategic goals.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to bring clarity to complex or ambiguous business challenges.
  • Analyze and synthesize both quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights.
  • Effectively communicate findings through data visualizations, presentations, and concise summaries.
  • Facilitate internal workshops and gather feedback from leadership to inform strategic direction.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • University degree with 8+ years of relevant experience OR 12+ years of combined post-secondary education and professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, equity research, or a strategy-related role.
  • Completion of an MBA or CFA designation is preferred.
  • Proven strength in financial analysis, business case development, and modeling.
  • Experience conducting structured qualitative analysis and navigating complex, ambiguous business problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • High level of proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, with strong attention to detail.
