Senior Manager, Environmental Sustainability

What are you going to do 

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and technical support to plant management regarding Environmental & Sustainability programs and procedures.
  • Develop benchmarks for the implementation of sustainability initiatives that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Act as the subject matter expert with respect to compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental compliance matters.
  • Accountable for identifying trends and areas of improvement and communicating with leadership and plant management teams.
  • Accountable for identifying, developing, and delivering environmental training requirements for implementation at the plant level.
  • Act as a lead in the development and execution of plant-level sustainability audits.
  • Collect and analyze statistical data pertaining to the plant's sustainability program.
  • Prepare reports to support sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop current knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in corporate environmental initiatives (such as conference calls, audits, etc.) to ensure site representation, inclusion, and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain an environmental calendar.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental or Industrial Engineering.
  • Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or Environmental Professional (EP) or similar credentials is a must-have.
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental sustainability roles, specifically within a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of interprovincial regulatory requirements for the management of air, odour, noise, water, and waste/hazardous waste is a must.
  • Hands-on experience working on cost-saving projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations.
  • Experience in the development and continuous improvement of environmental management programs (Sustainability, TQEM, ISO 14001, etc.).
  • Strong collaboration and consensus-building capabilities, and analytical skills.
  • Contractor management experience.
  • Ability to travel 40-50%, locally and nationwide.
