Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Water Design Engineer to deliver detailed design solutions for water infrastructure projects across multiple mine sites. The role will lead the preparation of designs in accordance with Australian standards, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose outcomes.

About this role

  • Conduct hydraulic modelling of pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, tanks, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare and compile work packages, including construction drawings, quantity estimates, scopes of work, and stakeholder liaison.
  • Facilitate design reviews, including field inspections and compliance with basis-of-design criteria.
  • Develop engineering deliverables such as pipeline schematics, general arrangements, P&IDs, and equipment selection.
  • Contribute to capital estimates and material take-offs (MTOs).
  • Coordinate operational readiness requirements for projects.
  • Monitor design schedules, escalating risks where necessary.
  • Provide construction support through responding to technical queries and updating design documentation.
  • Produce equipment datasheets and evaluate vendor proposals for budget and technical compliance.
  • Ensure designs meet statutory, regulatory, and procedural requirements.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication on design progress, risks, and changes.
  • Collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines.

Is this you?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Chemical/Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in piping systems and pipeline design, ideally within mining or engineering consultancy environments.
  • Prior experience in mine dewatering.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of discipline-specific and multi-discipline design requirements.
  • Familiarity with Australian and common international standards in mining and water industries.
  • Ability to undertake occasional short site visits for scoping and stakeholder engagement.
  • Competency in Visio and ArcMap (desirable).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to deliver on schedule and within budget.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
