Introduction

On behalf of the client, we are recruiting for an HR Compliance & Projects Specialist with a major oil & gas operator, focused on pay, leave and system improvements. This is a 12 month contract opportunity with the option of a 4 day working week.

About this role

Regulatory Compliance and Technical Expertise

  • Interpret and apply legislation including the Fair Work Act, WA Long Service Leave Act, and relevant Enterprise Agreements
  • Support audit and remediation projects
  • Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory changes such as payday superannuation
  • Act as the key HR SME for pay and leave impacting policy and benefit reviews

Change and Project Management

  • Drive process improvement initiatives and system enhancements (mostly across platforms such as Workday, Service Now and Power Apps) to align with policy, reduce manual interventions and strengthen compliance.
  • Support cross-functional projects in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and IT to resolve systemic issues and implement sustainable solutions

Employee Communication and Engagement

  • Respond to employee queries with clarity, ensuring understanding of entitlements and processes
  • Develop and deliver communications around policy changes, audit and remediation outcomes, and benefit updates
  • Partner with HRBPs and leaders to support workforce education and engagement on pay and leave matters

Is this you?

  • Proven ability to manage projects and support change initiatives across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on employee experience and stakeholder engagement
  • Some experience in payroll operations within a complex organisational environment (resources experience highly desired)
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment and payroll legislation and industrial instruments
  • Experience with Workday, payroll systems, and data analysis tools including Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive resolution
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Collaborative team player and ability to influence without authority
