Introduction

On behalf of our client, a global oil & gas operator, we are seeking a Lead HSE specialist to join an offshore module testing project based in Dampier, Western Australia. This 6 month contract role will provide oversight of site safety culture, ensure regulatory and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance, and facilitate coordination among contractors, operations, and management to maintain a safe, compliant work environment.

About this role

  • Lead, coordinate and deliver HSE inductions for all personnel (offshore and OSS) arriving on the Dampier site
  • Act as the primary on‑site HSE focal point for all safety, health, and environmental matters during module receipt testing offshore
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walk‑downs to ensure compliance with site procedures, guidelines, legislation, and internal HSE standards
  • Identify hazards, lead risk assessments (JSA / TRA / other), ensure control measures are implemented and monitored
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, near‑misses and non‑conformances; ensure root‑cause analysis and enforce corrective / preventive actions and lessons learned follow‑through
  • Maintain, review and update HSE documentation (policies, procedures, work permits, safety alerts, manuals) ensuring availability and applicability onsite
  • Monitor and track HSE KPIs and safety trends; produce and present regular reports to management to drive improvement

Is this you?

  • Proven track record working in offshore environments, ideally in site testing, module handling or similar operations
  • Hands‑on experience with working at height, elevated work platforms, temporary elevated structures, and adherence to applicable regulations
  • Strong investigative skills, able to carry out root cause analysis of accidents/incidents, non‑conformances, and follow up corrective actions
  • Good competence in inspections, audits, documentation management, and use of HSE management systems / portals
  • Excellent communication skills - able to engage and influence across contractors, operations teams, clients, and senior leadership
