Join Woodside Energy as a Communications Engineer, responsible for providing technical leadership and support in the design, delivery, and sustainment of operational communication systems. Based in Perth, this role will support both offshore and onshore operations and requires occasional travel to remote sites.
As a Communications Engineer, you will:
Collaborate with asset engineers, project managers, and internal stakeholders to meet operational communication requirements.
Develop medium- and long-term sustainment strategies for communications systems, ensuring reliability and compliance.
Work closely with technical specialists to ensure the right expertise is applied throughout project development and delivery.
Oversee contractor performance and benchmark service providers against agreed SLAs and standards.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards by engaging with regulators and professional bodies.
Drive functional excellence through knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to commercial outcomes by optimising supplier relationships and demonstrating cost leadership.
Manage health, safety, and environmental aspects of service delivery, maintaining high safety standards across all activities.
The ideal candidate will bring:
Extensive experience in operational communications or IT services within the energy, resources, or oil & gas sector.
Proven ability to deliver complex telecom projects through design, integration, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Strong understanding of telecom systems and standards, including VSAT, WAN/LAN, Wi-Fi, radio, microwave, satellite, CCTV, PA/GA, and SCADA.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability, with a focus on process safety and continuous improvement.
Tertiary qualifications in electronic or communications engineering (or equivalent).
Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership and chartered status preferred.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and teamwork skills.
