This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role at the centre of strategic decision-making and long-term asset planning, supporting a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of generation and transmission assets.

About this role

Reporting into the Head of Power Strategy, Growth and Optimisation, you will lead the asset planning and performance function. This includes driving long-term business planning, capital works governance, and asset investment modelling. You will act as the central point for aligning engineering, commercial, and operational inputs into a unified strategy that enables the business to deliver safe, reliable and value-driven energy infrastructure well into the future.

This role offers the chance to take ownership of complex planning and performance processes and embed a forward-looking, data-informed approach to decision-making across the asset base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term asset lifecycle strategies and investment plans
  • Drive commercial strategies to optimise asset value, including gas supply, PPAs, and cost forecasting
  • Use performance metrics, modelling and predictive analytics to inform asset decisions
  • Oversee 3-year outage planning, capital budgeting and annual business plans
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and internal governance frameworks
  • Align asset plans with operational capacity, system requirements and new asset integration
  • Support investment decisions through scenario modelling and financial impact analysis
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, commercial and operations teams

Is this you?

You are a strategic asset leader with experience across thermal generation or power transmission, confident operating at the intersection of engineering, commercial planning, and business strategy. You bring a forward-thinking mindset, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to influence complex, capital-intensive environments.

You will bring:

  • A degree in Engineering, Asset Management, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in strategic asset planning within power or energy
  • Experience with thermal generation operations and associated long-term planning
  • Strong commercial capability, including budgeting, forecasting, and investment analysis
  • Familiarity with energy markets, asset optimisation, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to translate data and modelling into clear, actionable business plans
  • Leadership skills that foster collaboration, performance, and innovation
