Australian Renewable Energy Jobs

Renewable energy generation has more than doubled over the last decade and this surge looks set to continue, as the world increasingly moves away from fossil fuels and invests in a decarbonised future. Australia’s renewable energy industry is booming, with exciting new projects emerging across solar, wind, hydro, tidal, geothermal and biomass energy.

The Australian renewables sector is projected to employ 44,000 Australians by 2025; the majority of these jobs will be located in regional Australia - in particular regional Western Australia, central and outback Queensland, outback South Australia and the Illawarra region in New South Wales. The renewable energy industry employs workers across a number of key sub-areas in Australia, including green metals (processing and exporting); critical metals (mining and refining); renewable hydrogen and ammonia; battery manufacturing; education and training; and engineering, ICT and consulting services.
