Position: Blaster, Long Hole

Location: Northern Saskatchewan

Introduction

Brunel is currently recruiting for an experienced Blaster - Long Hole to support underground operations at a well-established gold mining site in northern Saskatchewan. This is a fly-in/fly-out position on a 2 week on / 2 week off rotation, with charter flights provided from Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge.

This role is ideal for individuals with a solid background in underground hard rock mining and long hole blasting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting production drilling and blasting activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and operational standards.

This opportunity offers the chance to join a high-performing team within a dynamic and growth-oriented mining environment. A positive safety mindset, ability to work independently, and proven experience in similar underground roles are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Promote and consistently implement company safety policies.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate shift records.
  • Perform work area housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain a safe work area, free of any hazards.
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments.
  • Complete proper pre-op inspection on all equipment.
  • Properly place barricades delineating blast site.
  • Operate all equipment within the drill and blast patterns in a safe manner.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be experienced in long hole blasting.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic math/computer skills required.
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties.
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential

Requirements

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years' blasting experience in an underground hard rock mine.
  • Experience with blast design programs.
