Client is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support substation engineering and design projects. This role requires strong hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and Substation Design Suite (SDS), or the ability to learn SDS quickly with prior substation industry experience.

Client is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support substation engineering and design projects. This role requires strong hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and Substation Design Suite (SDS), or the ability to learn SDS quickly with prior substation industry experience.
This is a senior-level technician role with minimal supervision and the opportunity to provide technical guidance to other team members.
Essential skills and knowledge
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify substation design deliverables using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and SDS
- Apply Black & Veatch engineering standards, document control processes, and quality procedures
- Review design inputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable codes
- Develop design deliverables based on multiple engineering inputs
- Perform material quantity take-offs and cost estimates
- Coordinate deliverables with other project disciplines to avoid conflicts and errors
- Support field activities and project close-out, including as-built drawings
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and work direction to other technicians
- Apply continuous improvement, innovation, and new technologies to design processes
Required Qualifications (Very Important)
- 3-5 years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE)
- Substation industry experience is REQUIRED
- Experience with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is strongly preferred
