Introduction

Our client is a leading mining organization with a strong focus on safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. They are seeking an experienced Mine Planning & Scheduling Engineer to join their team. This role will play a critical part in aligning production goals, optimizing mine and maintenance schedules, and supporting capital project delivery.

What are you going to do

  • Develop and manage mine plans (daily, weekly, monthly, annual, LOM - Life of Mine).
  • Coordinate short-term and long-term mine scheduling with engineers, geologists, and operations teams.
  • Ensure production targets align with mine design, reserves, and business objectives.

  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities for heavy mining equipment (haul trucks, drills, shovels) and processing plants.
  • Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and SAP for scheduling and tracking.

  • Support capital projects (new developments, infrastructure) by creating integrated project schedules.
  • Track milestones, monitor critical paths, and manage resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and material requirements for scheduled activities.
  • Interface with procurement, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure execution readiness.

  • Monitor KPIs including equipment availability, utilization, and production vs. plan.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Provide accurate reports and insights to operations and senior management.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • 5-10 years of related experience in mining operations, mine planning, or scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of mining operations and equipment.
  • Demonstrated execution experience in mining projects (highly preferred).
  • Proficiency with scheduling and project control tools including:
    • Primavera P6 (complex project scheduling)
    • Microsoft Project
    • EcoSys (Hexagon PPM), SDx, SMAT
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability in problem-solving, risk mitigation, and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
