This role focuses on administering, optimizing, and supporting power system applications used in real-time grid operations and control center environments.

We are supporting a leading organization in the power and utilities sector delivering mission-critical Energy Management System (EMS) solutions for generation operations. This role focuses on administering, optimizing, and supporting power system applications used in real-time grid operations and control center environments.

You will play a critical role in maintaining system availability, deploying fixes in live environments, and supporting advanced generation and power system applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and optimize Energy Management System (EMS) applications, including system tuning and security patching

  • Perform technical corrective actions to restore failed or degraded EMS services

  • Conduct code review, deployment, testing, and monitoring of break/fix patches and system modifications

  • Install and apply fixes directly on live customer systems, ensuring minimal operational impact

  • Monitor system performance, logs, and debug files to identify and resolve issues

  • Support system integration, configuration, and ongoing operational stability in control center environments

  • 5+ years of experience working with power system applications (Generation), including:

    • Automatic Generation Control (AGC)

    • Load Frequency Control

    • Load Forecasting

    • Economic Dispatch

    • Power Flow

    • State Estimation

    • Contingency Analysis

    • Operator Training Simulator (OTS)

  • Hands-on experience with EMS platforms, preferably:

    • GE PowerOn Reliance (XA21)

    • AEMS / GDC

    • or equivalent platforms from Siemens, OSI, ABB, Schneider, or similar vendors

  • Strong experience working in Linux and Windows environments

  • Experience with utility communication protocols, including:

    • IEC 60870-5-101 / 104

    • DNP3

    • Modbus

    • ICCP

    • OPC

  • Experience working with relational databases, including Oracle and SQL Server

  • Programming and scripting experience using C, C++, PERL, or similar languages

  • Proficiency in SQL, shell scripting, and interpreting system logs and debug files

  • Demonstrated experience deploying fixes and patches in live production systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in complex, real-time environments
