Project Controls Cost Lead

Brunel is currently seeking a Project Controls Cost Lead for a long-term contract position with our client located in Miami, Arizona. Out of area candidates will be on 4x1 rotation, all travel and accommodations covered.
Overview:We are seeking a Project Cost Lead to support an industrial construction project in Miami, Arizona. This role will provide cost and schedule analysis, reporting, and project controls support under the direction of the Project Controls Manager. The position is site-based.
Key Responsibilities:
* Track and validate project progress against established rules of credit and update regularly.* Review contractor schedules for accuracy and alignment with the master schedule.
* Support project change management by processing change notices, maintaining logs, and reporting updates.* Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reports.
* Identify scope changes through design reviews and material take-offs.* Evaluate cost and schedule impacts of design or construction changes, RFIs, and site conditions.
* Work with the project team to resolve project control issues and recommend solutions.* Forecast project status against baseline schedules and propose corrective actions where needed.
* Review contractor invoices, equipment logs, and time sheets for accuracy.* Provide cost estimates for minor scopes of work and validate contractor estimates or change orders.
* Support coordination across engineering, procurement, and construction while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:* High school diploma/GED and 12+ years' experience in engineering, construction, project controls, or related field; OR
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field with 6-8 years' project controls experience.* Experience with heavy industrial construction projects, including estimating, forecasting, and cost reporting.
* Must have experience with EPC mega projects (Billion $+), preferably from the owners side.* Proficiency in ERP systems, SAP, P6, and EcoSys.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.* Knowledge of accounting functions and cost management.
