Introduction

The Process Safety Advisor will play a key role in supporting process safety performance at a large industrial operating site on the US Gulf Coast. This position is responsible for promoting strong process safety practices through risk assessments, field engagement, training, and regulatory compliance support.

What are you going to do

The Process Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting and advancing process safety performance at a large industrial operating site. This role focuses on practical application of process safety principles, regulatory compliance, and field engagement to reduce risk and prevent major process safety incidents.

The advisor will work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and site leadership to ensure process safety requirements are understood, implemented, and continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and support site process safety programs and initiatives * Facilitate and participate in process hazard analyses including HAZOP, LOPA, and other PHA activities
* Support consequence analysis and process safety studies. Experience with modeling tools such as PHAST is preferred * Provide technical support for OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plan requirements
* Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and tracking of corrective actions * Support management of change reviews, operating procedures, and safeguard adequacy reviews
* Develop, update, and deliver process safety related training to site personnel * Perform field engagement and coaching to reinforce process safety expectations and behaviors
* Collaborate with engineering and operations on design changes, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement efforts * Act as a technical advisor for process safety related questions and issues

Work Environment

* Office based role with regular field interaction * Standard weekday schedule with predictable hours
* Minimal overtime expected

Role Focus

This position is suited for a process safety professional with strong technical fundamentals, the ability to communicate clearly with multiple disciplines, and experience working in petrochemical, refining, or similar process industry environments.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Key Characteristics and Experience

* Engineering degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Process Safety Engineering or equivalent * 2 to 5 years of recent experience in a dedicated process safety role
* Strong working knowledge of process hazard analysis methodologies including HAZOP and LOPA * Experience supporting OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plan requirements
* Familiarity with consequence analysis and process safety modeling tools. PHAST experience preferred * Ability to participate in or facilitate structured risk assessments and incident investigations
* Strong written and verbal communication skills * Comfortable delivering training and providing field based coaching
* Experience working in operating facilities such as petrochemical plants, refineries, or chemical manufacturing sites
