Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Mine Manager for direct hire with our client's mine site located in Southern Texas.

What are you going to do 

The Mine Manager holds full executive responsibility for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our client's Mine. This role oversees all site departments-including mining, maintenance, engineering, processing, and administration-to ensure operations align with company goals, regulatory compliance, and budgetary expectations. The position also serves as the primary liaison with customers, regulatory agencies, vendors, and local community stakeholders. Position has 5 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with MSHA regulations and company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture through leadership, training, and behavior-based safety programs.
  • Oversee all mining operations and coordinate with department heads in engineering, maintenance, and processing.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager on LOM plans, mine development, geology, ore control, ground support, and geotechnical monitoring.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to optimize fleet performance, equipment availability, and reliability.
  • Monitor and manage production and cost metrics to meet or exceed development, tonnage, and financial goals.
  • Lead budget planning, capital expenditure projects, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Evaluate future equipment needs and construction requirements to support operational growth.
  • Review and approve purchasing decisions in coordination with Procurement and Finance teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, corporate leadership, regulatory bodies, and the surrounding community.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans and operational strategies aligned with company objectives.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Required Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of 10 years in senior leadership within mining industry.
  • Proven record of success in mine site operations and management.
  • Must have current MSHA certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience with coal mining is required, Lignite is preferred.
  • Experience with surface mining required.
  • Experience with dragline is required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (TN visa will be considered)
