Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for an Instructional Designer for a contract, U.S. based remote position supporting a key client, for approximately 6 months with potential for extension.

What are you going to do

We are seeking a highly skilled Instructional Designer to transform existing adult technical training content into engaging, interactive learning experiences that maximize knowledge retention and learner absorption. Current training is primarily PowerPoint-based, and this role will focus on redesigning courses to improve learner engagement through a blend of lecture, quizzes, interactive modules, and fieldwork applications.

This position will also support the development of annual compliance-style learning modules (e.g., safety, anti-bullying, anti-bribery) in our ADP learning platform. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design models, and eLearning authoring tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze existing SME-developed technical curriculum and re-design content to increase engagement, retention, and absorption.
  • Develop interactive training frameworks (e.g., 30-min lecture, 10-min quiz, 30-min fieldwork) that balance instruction, practice, and application.
  • Create quizzes, assessments, and knowledge checks to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Design and build annual compliance modules (safety, anti-bullying, anti-bribery, etc.) in ADP's learning module platform.
  • Develop "test-out" functionality and video-based training content for mandatory learning.
  • Apply adult learning theories and instructional design best practices to create practical, effective learning solutions.
  • Deliver all course assets (presentations, facilitator guides, quizzes, eLearning modules, etc.) for trainers to deliver-this role will not conduct training.
  • Ensure content is accessible, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and SMEs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of redesigned training.

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or related field (Master's a plus).
  • 3+ years of instructional design experience, ideally with technical/field-based adult learning.
  • Proven experience redesigning PowerPoint-based curriculum into interactive, engaging training.
  • Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Storyline/Rise, Captivate, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ADP learning module platform or similar LMS.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), and training evaluation methods.
  • Experience creating compliance modules (safety, workplace conduct, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong project management and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results in a contract environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without the need for sponsorship.
