Introduction

Brunel is seeking an experienced Control Room Operator, ideally with Electrical & Instrumentation qualifications (Type B Gas and High Voltage endorsements highly regarded), to support operations at a leading energy operator's facility in Miles, QLD. This short-term assignment offers an attractive daily rate, FIFO-style roster, and the opportunity to work on critical energy infrastructure.

What are you going to do 

  • Operate and monitor plant systems from the control room, ensuring safe and efficient operations
  • Respond to alarms, operational changes, and unplanned events in real time
  • Coordinate with field teams to support planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Maintain compliance with operational procedures, HSE standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Prior experience in control room operations within oil & gas, utilities, or energy sectors
  • Electrical & Instrumentation qualifications (Type B Gas and High Voltage endorsements highly regarded)
  • Strong technical knowledge of SCADA systems or similar control platforms
  • Ability to work a 15/13 roster with 12-hour shifts (24-hour shift readiness may be required)
  • Strong communication, situational awareness, and decision-making skills
  • Current unrestricted Australian work rights
