Our client is a leading global industrial solutions provider with a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand. Renowned for engineering excellence and innovation, they deliver mission-critical products and services to a wide range of industries.
We are seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Officer to join their team on a 12-month casual contract (with potential to extend or turn into a permanent position).

This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth delivery of HR and payroll operations, supporting employees across the full lifecycle, and maintaining compliance with Australian employment legislation.

As the HR & Payroll Officer, you will oversee HR operations, coordinate payroll for around 200 employees across multiple sites, administer benefits, manage workers' compensation, and provide recruitment support. This is a hands-on role that balances compliance with delivering a positive employee experience.

HR Operations Management

  • Manage end-to-end HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and performance management.

  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with Australian employment legislation and company policies.

  • Stay updated on Fair Work regulations and employment law to maintain compliance.

Payroll, Benefits & Workers' Compensation

  • Coordinate accurate and timely payroll processing, liaising with the external payroll provider.

  • Administer employee benefits programs and manage third-party vendor relationships.

  • Oversee workers' compensation processes including claims, insurer communication, and return-to-work coordination.

  • Ensure compliance with superannuation, taxation, and statutory reporting obligations.

Talent Acquisition Support

  • Assist with recruitment activities including advertising, screening, interviews, and reference checks.

  • Conduct initial interviews to assess role fit and cultural alignment.

  • Support hiring managers to ensure recruitment aligns with workforce planning.

Is this you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Extensive experience in HR with a strong focus on HR operations and compliance.

  • Solid understanding of Australian employment laws and Fair Work regulations.

  • Experience managing payroll end-to-end, ideally in partnership with an external payroll provider.

  • Demonstrated ability in workers' compensation management and return-to-work coordination.

  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, data analysis) with high attention to accuracy.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
