This is a rare chance to step into a high-profile strategic role where you will shape long-term planning across a diverse portfolio of power assets, including gas, solar, wind, and emerging technologies such as battery storage and HVDC.

About this role

Based in Brisbane, this permanent position offers the opportunity to influence key business decisions, lead strategic initiatives, and contribute directly to Australia's energy transition.

As Operations Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for developing system strategies, optimising capital allocation, coordinating regulatory inputs, and ensuring operational alignment with corporate strategy. You will work closely with senior leaders across the business, building frameworks that support risk-weighted, cost-effective asset management and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate Strategic Asset Management Plans (5+ years) for power and transmission assets, ensuring alignment with long-term corporate objectives
  • Translate complex asset and operational data into actionable strategies that drive performance, resilience, and business value
  • Coordinate the integration of business unit strategies into the overarching operations strategy, providing enterprise-wide consistency and clarity
  • Provide operational and strategic input into economic regulatory processes, including Access Arrangements and Revenue Determinations
  • Monitor and track the performance, risks, and opportunities of the power asset portfolio, reporting insights to senior leadership
  • Lead and coordinate selected enterprise-wide strategic initiatives across operating and corporate functions
  • Support the operating rhythm of the business, including workshops, management forums, and performance reporting

About You

You will be a strategic and commercially minded professional with a proven ability to operate across complex asset portfolios. Your background may include engineering, asset management, or operations, but your strength lies in your ability to connect long-term business strategy with practical, executable outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence influencing at executive and operational levels
  • Deep commercial and operational knowledge of power generation and transmission assets, including on-grid, remote, hybrid, and micro-grid systems
  • Broad experience across open and combined-cycle gas turbines, reciprocating engines, solar, wind, grid-scale battery energy storage systems, and HVDC technology
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to interpret complex data, anticipate risks, and identify growth opportunities
  • Experience working with asset management frameworks, regulatory processes, budgeting, and financial planning
