Our client is looking for a skilled and driven Poultry Operations Manager to oversee their QLD facilities. This is a pivotal leadership role within a well-established agribusiness focused on innovation, welfare, and sustainable egg production.

The Role

This role is a significant leadership position with an emphasis on people management whilst overseeing standards in welfare, compliance, staff performance, and productivity.

As a senior leader within the business, you will be responsible for setting direction, driving performance, and managing both people and operations at a strategic level. This position requires confident leadership, strong decision-making, and the ability to foster a high-performing, safety-focused culture across all areas of the farm.

Key Duties

  • Provide oversight and leadership to Senior Farm Managers across multiple sites to ensure optimal performance in daily farm operations, including flock health, feed management, production efficiency, and biosecurity.
  • Oversee the execution of production schedules and operational services to meet agreed performance, supply, and quality objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a tenured management team, ensuring clarity of responsibilities, strong communication, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all WHS, animal welfare, biosecurity, and food safety regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of farm hygiene, safety, and welfare in line with company and industry standards.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with the Poultry General Manager and other senior leaders to deliver business strategies and operational plans.
  • Analyse operational data, production metrics, and financial results to identify opportunities for improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and capital projects within the region to achieve profitability targets.
  • Foster strong communication channels between farms, egg grading and packing, logistics, and head office teams to ensure smooth coordination across the supply chain.
  • Report regularly to the Poultry General Manager on key operational and performance indicators, challenges, and improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with internal support functions, including veterinary, feed, and maintenance services, to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across farms focused on productivity, environmental management, and animal welfare
  • Champion sustainability practices in operations, including waste management, energy efficiency, and responsible farming practices.
  • Support innovation through the adoption of new technologies and improved management systems.

Is this you?

About You

  • 10+ years' experience in livestock production, preferably poultry
  • Strong operational experience and knowledge, including P&L responsibilities
  • Strong leadership background in farm management within Australia
  • Solid understanding of poultry health, nutrition, and welfare
  • Skilled in biosecurity, compliance, and operational planning
  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong communication skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Animal Science or similar (preferred)
