Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Construction Advisor - Gathering to lead field execution of upstream gas gathering projects in Queensland. This role provides hands-on supervision of HDPE installation, live tie-ins and high-risk excavation activities, while driving contractor performance, safety compliance and quality delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

What are you going to do

Supervise and monitor daily site construction activities across gas gathering scopes, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification. Provide technical advice and troubleshooting support across design, construction and execution challenges.

Excavation Authority & Live Asset Management

Act as Excavation Authorised Person (AP), reviewing and approving excavation permits and overseeing high-risk excavation activities. Ensure underground services are positively identified, appropriate soil classification and stability controls are implemented, and excavation inspections are completed prior to and during works.

Manage contractor teams and third-party service providers to ensure alignment with HSSE standards, project milestones and quality expectations. Support completion walkdowns (MC1, PC1, SC1), sign-offs and handover documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction activities across HDPE gas and water gathering systems

  • Provide standover supervision for live and high-risk excavations

  • Review and approve excavation permits and associated third-party documentation (e.g. BYDA)

  • Confirm identification and marking of underground and overhead infrastructure

  • Inspect excavations and shoring for ground stability risks

  • Support live tie-ins, squeeze-offs, hot taps, HDPE welding and testing activities

  • Liaise with Land Access to ensure landowner consent prior to site entry

  • Ensure contractor resourcing (people and equipment) meets project requirements

  • Review IFC drawings, SOW, commissioning strategy and project documentation

  • Prepare construction progress reports and benchmarking/KPI data

  • Support Field Engineers with technical issue resolution

  • Participate in walkdowns and acceptance of handover documentation

  • Maintain strong communication across Operations, Engineering, Commissioning, HSSE and Environment teams

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • 5+ years' oil & gas construction experience

  • Proven HDPE gas or water gathering experience

  • Experience supervising live excavations and tie-ins

  • Knowledge of squeeze-offs, hot taps, flange management and N2 purging

  • Strong contractor management and HSSE focus

  • Ability to read IFC drawings and construction documentation

Desirable:

  • CSG project experience

  • Excavation AP competency

  • Cert III Gas Supply Industry
