Introduction

We're hiring a Mobile Equipment Trainer for our global mining client to join their team! You will be responsible for providing short-term support for training delivery at site. This role will work closely with the Technical Training team to deliver, assess, and support mobile equipment operator training in a dynamic operations environment. This role is site based (JANSEN, SK) on a 7 on 7 off rotation and on a 10-month contract basis.

What are you going to do

  • Provide oversight and validation of contractor project controls, including review and challenge of engineering and construction contractor schedules, cost reports, progress measurement, forecasts, and trends
  • Deliver operator training and competency assessments of mobile equipment in accordance with BHP standards
  • Conduct classroom, field-based, and practical training sessions
  • Evaluate operator's competency and provide coaching, feedback, and signoffs
  • Support the execution of site training plans and schedules
  • Adjust training delivery in response to operational changes, equipment availability, and site priorities
  • Maintain accurate training records, assessments, and documentation
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture and comply with all site safety procedures
  • Collaborate with Technical Training Leads and Operations stakeholders to ensure training effectiveness
  • The trainer must have hands-on experience delivering training and assessments on the following equipment: Skid Steer, Forklift, Telehandler, Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) and Scissor Lift

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Proven experience overseeing EPC and/or EPCM contractor project controls, including cost, schedule, progress measurement, forecasting, and change management.
  • 5+ years of experience in mobile equipment training within an operations or mining environment
  • Strong background in training delivery, operator assessment, and competency-based training
  • Accreditation or Train-the-Trainer certification for surface mobile equipment (required)
  • Solid understanding of operational safety requirements and best practices
  • Ability to work independently while integrating with an established training team
  • Comfortable working a 7x7 rotation in a site-based role
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to shift plans when equipment or schedules change
  • Laid-back, friendly, and approachable communication style
  • Confident presenter with strong interpersonal skills
  • Calm under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Team-oriented and open to feedback and change
