Introduction

Brunel is partnering with a major Australian resources operator on a contract oppurtunity for a Senior Test Engineer. You will be part of an established verification team responsible for proving out features and system-level behaviours across simulation, bench, and field environments before they reach production.

What are you going to do

As a Senior Test Engineer you will provide hands-on technical direction to a team of Test Engineers that sits across multiple locations. You will work closely with systems engineers, architects, and developers to make sure requirements are testable, defects are reproducible, and the system performs against its reliability and safety targets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate requirements into structured test plans and coordinate functional, integration, performance, and reliability testing
  • Verify end-to-end workflows across distributed autonomy systems, covering communications, perception, control, and fleet management
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Test Engineers spanning multiple locations, reviewing and approving their test cases
  • Lead defect triage and reproduction, partnering with developers and systems engineers through to closure and re-test
  • Engage Product Owners, systems engineers, and developers to clarify scope, acceptance criteria, and readiness
  • Provide on-the-ground leadership during field testing campaigns and enforce safety protocols across simulation, bench, and field
  • Report on execution progress, defect trends, and coverage, and maintain audit-ready records

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Deep background in system-level testing of distributed, safety-critical systems
  • Practical experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or industrial control environments
  • Strong test case design, execution, and defect reporting practice, with clear traceability back to requirements
  • Working knowledge of HIL and SIL environments, automation frameworks, and field verification
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor small test teams, balancing hands-on execution with coordination responsibilities.
  • Confidence engaging Product Owners, systems engineers, and developers to clarify scope and acceptance criteria
