Introduction

We are looking for a Rotating Equipment Engineer to work with one of our major Oil and Gas clients in a contract position located in Houston, TX.

What are you going to do

  • The Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide technical assurance and support during the detailed design phases of EPC projects.
  • Responsibilities include auditing and verifying EPC designs to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards, coordinating with EPC counterparts and other disciplines, and supporting rotating equipment packages, including high-drive-power systems, gas turbine-driven equipment, multiple train components, and associated auxiliary support systems.
  • The role also involves supporting string tests, resolving design issues, and following projects to the field to assist with construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Audit and provide assurance for detailed EPC designs of rotating equipment, including gas turbines, refrigerant and process compressors, drivers, gearboxes, blowers, pumps, and associated auxiliary support systems.
  • Ensure equipment design and construction meet safety requirements, process performance criteria, and project specifications.
  • Review equipment inquiry/purchase requisitions and technical bid evaluations for correctness of selection.
  • Review vendor drawings, data, test procedures, reports, and calculations in an audit and assurance role.
  • Attend Kick-off, Detailed Design, Model Reviews, and Pre-Inspection Meetings.
  • Participate in Process HAZID and HAZOP analyses as needed.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience with large rotating machinery, including gas turbines, large process or refrigerant compressors, drivers, gearboxes, blowers, pumps, and associated auxiliary support systems or skid-mounted packaged systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of control systems for typical compression equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Good working knowledge of API, ASME, ANSI, PIP, and other process industry codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis for rotating equipment, including lateral and torsional analysis and diagnostics during Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with NEC codes, particularly for hazardous area applications.
