Our client, a tier one mining and resources business, is seeking an experienced Maintenance & Operations Planner to join their Perth-based team supporting a high-profile R&D and operational function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with a strong background in maintenance, scheduling and operational coordination to step into a role that offers variety, and exposure to complex assets and testing programs.

What are you going to do

Working closely with teams across maintenance, engineering, operations, reliability, projects and laboratory services, this position will be instrumental in developing and coordinating safe, practical and efficient maintenance and testing plans that support asset reliability and operational performance.

The opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for translating maintenance strategies into executable plans, maintaining scheduling accuracy, and supporting compliance to plan across a dynamic operational environment. You will also play a key role in coordinating testing and laboratory activities, while ensuring planning outputs align with operational priorities.

This position will suit someone who is highly organised, technically capable and confident engaging with a broad range of internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality maintenance and testing plans that are safe, practical and executable
  • Translate maintenance strategies into detailed work schedules and job plans
  • Maintain and optimise maintenance plans and master data within SAP
  • Create purchase requisitions for parts and services in line with procurement processes
  • Work with project teams to maintain integrated live schedules across the life of projects
  • Identify and mitigate risks to schedule adherence in collaboration with project and execution teams
  • Attend regular planning and scheduling meetings to update progress, schedules and resource plans
  • Support improved compliance to plan through strong planning discipline, coordination and work readiness
  • Deliver testing strategies and laboratory test plans that support asset reliability and operational outcomes
  • Produce accurate schedule development, consolidation and reporting using Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
  • Manage work order planning, capacity planning, capacity levelling and weekly scheduling activities
  • Review and process notifications, converting approved work into executable work orders

Essential skills and knowledge 

To be considered, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning within mining, heavy industry or a similar operational environment
  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance planning, work management and scheduling principles
  • Experience using SAP CMMS for planning, scheduling and master data management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and ideally Primavera P6
  • Exposure to a broad range of asset types and operational maintenance environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving capability, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork and operational excellence
  • Knowledge of Asset Management ISO 55000 will be highly regarded
  • Qualifications required
  • Mechanical or Electrical Trade qualification, or
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Maintenance, Asset Management, Project Controls or a related discipline
