The Facilities Engineer / Specialist III provides engineering support for existing oil and gas production facilities. This role focuses on brownfield operations, production optimization, and reliability improvement of surface assets. The position requires close coordination with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility performance.
* Provide engineering support for brownfield facilities and existing production assets * Monitor facility performance and recommend actions to improve uptime and production efficiency
* Lead small capital projects from concept development through execution and closeout * Identify and implement debottlenecking solutions for production systems and facility constraints
* Conduct and participate in risk assessments, including HAZOP, hazard reviews, and operating parameter evaluations * Lead incident investigations related to downtime, equipment failure, and process safety events
* Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions * Support facility surveillance activities and ongoing operational improvements
* Develop and maintain operating procedures and engineering guidelines * Execute and support performance testing and plant trials
* Ensure all engineering work complies with company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements * Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure proper execution of engineering work
* Support identification and development of project opportunities and scopes of work * Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff
* Experience with oil and gas surface facilities, including production and processing systems * Knowledge of process engineering principles and production operations
* Experience with brownfield modifications and facility optimization * Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) and risk assessment methodologies
* Ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis * Working knowledge of industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and OSHA
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
* Combination of office and field-based work * Regular travel to field locations within the Midland Basin
* Exposure to active operating facilities and industrial environments
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills * Effective communication and coordination with cross-functional teams
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects * Strong focus on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency
* Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline * Equivalent field experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in oil and gas facilities engineering or related roles * Experience supporting operating assets in upstream or midstream environments
* Proven experience in field-based engineering support and production optimization
* Experience in Permian Basin operations * Background in production optimization and debottlenecking projects
* Experience working with both operators and EPC contractors * Knowledge of process safety systems and regulatory compliance requirements
