Introduction

We are currently partnering with a global oil and gas business to appoint an experienced Finance Business Partner based in Perth on a 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to join a high-performing team and play a key role in supporting operational stakeholders through financial analysis, cost management, forecasting and business performance insights.

About this role

As the Finance Business Partner, you will provide finance and cost management support to operational stakeholders, helping to strengthen budget owner capability and improve overall business performance. You will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting, while supporting budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly accruals in partnership with scope owners to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Deliver timely, reliable and accurate financial reports to support operational and commercial decision-making
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide detailed variance commentary, identifying underlying drivers and performance trends
  • Support the annual budgeting process, forecasting cycles and ongoing cost and efficiency challenge activities
  • Develop and maintain cost models to support forecasting accuracy, including scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Prepare budget and forecast submissions, including presentation materials, within required deadlines
  • Manage key cost management activities, including identifying trends, deviations and forecast risks
  • Maintain financial master data and ensure cost objects are aligned with internal finance processes
  • Provide ad hoc financial and cost analysis as required
  • Support audit activities and ensure compliance with accounting principles and tax requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and ways of working

Is this you?

To be successful in this role, you will be a degree-qualified finance professional with proven experience in business partnering and operational cost support, ideally within the oil and gas, E&P or broader resources sector.

You will also bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting
  • CPA, CA or CIMA qualification, or be working towards completion
  • More than 3 years' post-graduate experience in a similar finance role
  • Previous experience within E&P, oil and gas or resources environments is highly regarded
  • Exposure to SAP, ideally across FI, CO and PS, with broader understanding of MM, PM and BW advantageous
  • Strong analytical capability with excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to build effective relationships across finance and operational teams
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
  • A proactive mindset with the flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements
