Introduction

Deliver critical on‑site fluid sampling and chemical analyses across remote well‑test operations, producing actionable reports and collaborating with engineers and chemists to optimise production. Operate from field sites on a FIFO roster, applying strong HSE discipline and holding a valid Queensland light‑vehicle licence.

About this role

  • Conduct routine and campaign‑based fluid sampling (oil, gas, water) on site during well test operations.
  • Perform on‑site chemical analyses (e.g., salinity, pH, H₂S, CO₂) using portable lab equipment.
  • Ensure correct chain‑of‑custody and sample integrity during collection, labelling, transport and storage.
  • Record, validate and audit field data in line with QA/QC protocols.
  • Prepare daily reports and end‑of‑test chemical summaries for stakeholders and operations teams.
  • Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers, production chemists and test engineers for data interpretation and production optimisation.
  • Assist with the setup, calibration, maintenance and verification of portable lab/test kits and equipment on site.
  • Monitor chemical injection treatment systems (e.g., dosage adjustment, scale/corrosion inhibitors) and support flow assurance activities (emulsions, foaming, hydrate risk).
  • Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, safety briefings and ensure full compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and environmental sampling/reporting standards.

Is this you?

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of field experience within oil & gas operations (preferably well‑testing or production chemistry).
  • Strong knowledge of portable field laboratory equipment and field analytical techniques.
  • Familiarity with well test principles, chemical treatment programs, flow assurance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, technical report writing and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Valid Queensland light‑vehicle driver licence and ability to operate in remote/field‐based FIFO environments.
