Introduction

Brunel has partnered with a leading resources company on a contract opportunity for an Analytics Engineer specialising in Asset Performance. This is a hands-on technical build role suited to someone with strong Snowflake SQL and Power BI experience, and the ability to design and build data models and pipelines from the ground up.

About this role

This role will focus on developing a reporting suite for a Water Management team to automate their monthly water balance reporting as well as their monthly performance, reliability and improvement reporting. In addition, the role will assist with more general performance reporting tasks across our operations including Rail and HME. Working within an engineering-led analytics team, you will use your expertise in Snowflake SQL and PowerBI to design high-quality data models and pipelines to support advanced analysis that drives strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining Snowflake SQL data models and pipelines to support asset performance analytics and monthly water management reporting routines
  • Building and delivering Power BI reports supporting water balance analysis, reliability tracking, and continuous improvement processes
  • Integrating data across operational systems and APIs to ensure high-quality, reliable data foundations
  • Supporting the broader Asset Performance team with ongoing reporting development and maintenance
  • Driving continuous improvement in data quality through investigation, testing, and proactive issue resolution
  • Using GitHub for version control, code review, and collaborative development
  • Maintaining documentation and governance across analytical systems

Is this you?

  • Strong Snowflake SQL experience, including data modelling and pipeline development
  • Power BI expertise building dashboards for operational, non-technical stakeholders
  • Solid data modelling fundamentals e.g. ETL pipelines, medallion architecture or similar
  • GitHub proficiency for version control and collaborative development
  • Experience integrating data across multiple operational systems and APIs
  • Mining, water management, or heavy industry background highly regarded
  • Familiarity with delay accounting data, water balance reporting, or asset performance frameworks highly regarded
  • Python or similar scripting for data automation is well regarded but not essential
