The Technology Project Manager is a key role responsible for leading and coordinating all technology infrastructure activities during the construction and commissioning phases of a mission-critical data centre project. This position ensures that all IT and network systems are delivered on schedule, meet design specifications, and align with the client's technical and operational requirements.
The Technology Project Manager acts as the central point of coordination between design, construction, and commissioning teams-overseeing system integration, vendor performance, and technology readiness. Responsibilities include managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communications while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and data security standards.
This role requires strong leadership, technical project management expertise, and the ability to drive complex technology deliverables in fast-paced, high-reliability environments.
Lead and manage the overall planning, execution, and delivery of technology infrastructure within the data centre project.
Coordinate between design, construction, commissioning, and client teams to ensure smooth technology implementation.
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of IT, network, and communication systems (structured cabling, BMS, CCTV, access control, etc.).
Manage vendors and contractors to ensure all deliverables meet technical specifications, schedule, and budget requirements.
Develop and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, risk registers, and change management logs.
Ensure all technology works comply with quality, safety, and data security standards.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure system integration readiness for handover to the client.
Monitor project milestones and proactively resolve issues that could impact cost, quality, or schedule.
Participate in design review meetings and provide input on constructability, coordination, and technology interfaces.
Drive stakeholder communication, including reporting project status, risks, and mitigations to senior management and the client.
Support testing and validation of systems prior to energisation and go-live phases.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, client requirements, and company standards for data centre environments.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in project management within data centre, IT infrastructure, or MEP construction environments.
Proven experience managing technology systems delivery (structured cabling, network, BMS, security, or ICT systems).
Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, and communication systems integration.
Hands-on experience with project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and reporting documentation.
Excellent stakeholder management and vendor coordination skills.
Strong knowledge of project lifecycle, from design and procurement to commissioning and handover.
Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier guidelines, and ISO/IEC standards is an advantage.
Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple workstreams.
Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
Ability to work on-site during critical project phases and collaborate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
