Introduction

Our mining client is looking for a talented Structural Engineer (Intermediate or Senior) -to join their Minerals & Metals business line in North America (Vancouver or Calgary) as our client prepares for many exciting new execution and study projects.

What are you going to do

Prepare cost effective structural engineering designs from conceptual design to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with North American Codes and Standards.
Perform analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
Prepare material take-off of steel and concrete.
Prepare specifications, design criteria and scope of work documents.
Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
Work directly with drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages

Essential skills and knowledge

Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural engineering from a recognized University.
Eng designation, or working toward it
Experience in structural design engineering with experience in engineering design of mining and process plant projects.
Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment.
Proficiency in application of North American Codes and Standards.
Proven ability to work with a team to conceptualize project layouts, and optimize designs is a must.
Familiarity with structural dynamics, earthquake engineering and FEA modelling, is considered a strong asset.
Proficiency in structural engineering design software SAP2000 and/or STAAD.Pro. Experience with AutoCAD, NavisWorks and SmartPlant would be considered an asset.
Experienced in dealing with clients and contractors directly.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
