Brunel is currently searching for a Senior AVEVA E3D Multi-Discipline Designer for a long-term contract opportunity for our mining client. This position will work remotely with occasional business trips to Salt Lake City, Utah.
In this role you will be expected to deliver high-quality, multi-discipline designs using AVEVA E3D and associated applications for an underground mining project. You will develop 3D models and model-derived deliverables such as layouts, isometrics, MTOs, and coordinate closely with discipline engineering leads and mine planning teams to ensure designs are safe, constructible and compliant with company and U.S. codes/standards. The position requires proactive multi-discipline coordination, and rigorous adherence to data and drawing governance.
Duties:
3D Modelling & Coordination - Build and quality-assure E3D models across piping/mechanical, structural/civil, and electrical/instrumentation/ telecommunications disciplines for underground mining infrastructure.
Deliverables - Produce and check model-driven deliverables: general arrangements, plot plans, detailed drawings, piping isometrics, cable tray layouts, supports, MTOs/reports.
Multi-Discipline Design - Collaborate closely with discipline engineers to interpret engineering intent into practical, constructible 3D designs; optimize layouts and routing to meet functional, safety, and maintainability requirements while balancing cost and schedule constraints.
Multi-Discipline Integration - Coordinate model interfaces with AVEVA Engineering, AVEVA Diagrams, and AVEVA E&I Schematics.
Clash Prevention & Constructability - Run and resolve rule-based checks and clash detection.
Standards & Reference Data - Apply and help maintain company catalogs, specs, supports and component libraries in E3D.
Schedule & Interface Support - Interface with project controls, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations.
Quality & Governance - Follow digital delivery workflows, file naming, WBS/coding and change control.
Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing - Mentor junior designers on company standards and efficient E3D methods.
Stakeholder Engagement - Maintain clear communication with discipline leads, construction supervisors and operations.
Requirements:
10+ years plant design experience in mining/mineral processing or heavy industrial greenfield or brownfield projects.
Expert user of AVEVA E3D for modelling, drawing/ISO production, supports, rules-based checks.
Demonstrated capability producing GA/orthographic drawings and piping isometrics.
Working knowledge of 3D model review processes and review tools such as Autodesk Navisworks.
Ability to read PFDs/P&IDs and apply relevant standards/codes.
Excellent written/verbal communication; proven stakeholder engagement.
Self-motivated, able to manage priorities, work with minimal supervision.
MUST BE Eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without the need for sponsorship.
Must be willing to travel for business meetings <10%.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in non-orthogonal modelling and design (typical in underground mining).
Experience with laser scanning/point clouds and E3D point-cloud workflows.
Familiarity with catalog/spec development, basic PML scripting.
Exposure to AutoCAD and Revit.
Experience with one or more of the other AVEVA Unified Engineering tools.
Experience with undergrounding mining.
