Brunel has an exciting opportunity for a Project Solutions Lead with our client who is a leading mining company.

What are you going to do

This contract position will work on a hybrid schedule. Candidates will work from home 50% of the time and travel to the Arizona sites 50 percent of the time. Travel accommodation, hotels, and transportation will be included.

The primary purpose of role is to lead the delivery of digital and software solutions that improves execution of large-scale capital projects. This includes designing and implementing user-friendly, reliable solutions that streamline processes, improve efficiency, and align with business objectives. In addition, the role will lead delivery of data analytics and business intelligence (BI) solutions that provide actionable insights that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and implement digital products and software applications tailored to unique needs of large capital projects end-to-end (discovery, backlog, UX, build/config, testing, release, support) aligned to portfolio priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with IT and Data Engineering teams to execute data warehouse, ETL architecture, system integration, application migrations, and legacy modernization initiatives (including defining data standards, validation, and process documentation).
  • Collaborate with functional and project stakeholders to capture requirements, review solution designs, BI views, and lead change management activities to drive adoption (e.g., coordinate rollouts, user training, communications).
  • Establish quality assurance frameworks, governance, and standards to ensure the dependability and usability of deployed solutions (including driving incident/problem management and deploying enhancements).
  • Implement interactive, scalable BI dashboards and reports using Power BI, SQL, Snowflake, and other tools to deliver actionable insights that support project execution. 15%
  • Identify opportunities for automation, AI-driven enhancements, and BI practice optimization in capital project delivery (including pilot and measure impact such as reduction in cycle time and manual efforts.)

Job Scope:

  • Nature of work: Lead the design and delivery of solutions to support organizational decision-making and operational efficiency. Work involves translating business needs into technical solutions, developing business intelligence tools, and applying advanced analytics to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Level of interaction: Often collaborates with managers and/or functional or site leaders and has some interaction with external colleagues. It also requires direct interaction with contractors' representatives and other external agents.
  • Autonomy/decision making: Operates with a high level of independence in executing quality work.
  • Budgetary responsibility: None
  • Managerial responsibility: Execute cross-functional digital and analytics initiatives. May oversee the work of team of developers and data engineers supporting.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, engineering, business, supply chain or related field AND 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, and digital/process improvement, or related experience with a focus on engineering or EPC projects, or Project Design Office.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (SQL, DAX, M language, etc.)
  • Proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of ETL, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling.

Preferable Experience:

  • Master's degree in Analytics.
  • Experience in Mining, Energy, Engineering & Construction, or related industries
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, DAX, and M language.
  • Familiarity with additional analytics programming language (Python, R, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Snowflake) and business applications (Oracle, Ariba, and SAP / S4).
  • Supply Chain background and prior experience in areas of Demand Planning and Materials Management.
  • Experience with AI/ML-driven analytics and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies and project management best practices.
  • Firsthand experience with data migration, application migration (i.e., SAP / S4) or legacy modernization projects.
