Development Manager

About the Company

The organisation develops, builds, owns and operates utility-scale renewable energy and storage projects across multiple markets. With a strong balance sheet and long-term investment mandate, the Australian business is expanding its development pipeline across wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

As part of its continued growth, the company is seeking a Development Manager to play a key role in progressing projects from origination through to Final Investment Decision (FID).

Scope

Reporting to the Head of Development, you will work across all phases of renewable energy project development, supporting and driving project workstreams within a multidisciplinary team.

This is a broad, hands-on development role spanning origination, approvals, grid, commercial and investment case preparation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working within cross-functional project teams to progress projects toward FID
  • Managing land access negotiations and maintaining landholder relationships
  • Supporting development approvals, including coordination of environmental and cultural heritage studies
  • Leading engagement with councils, state government agencies and key community stakeholders
  • Overseeing grid connection processes in collaboration with technical specialists, including liaison with TNSPs and AEMO
  • Supporting procurement processes (RFPs) for equipment suppliers and EPC/BoP contractors
  • Monitoring and reporting on project budgets and schedules
  • Preparing EOI and RFP responses for government and PPA tenders (e.g. CIS, LTESA)
  • Supporting acquisition due diligence and partnership opportunities
  • Contributing to site identification and new project origination
  • Assisting in the preparation of project investment cases and financial materials
  • Maintaining strong governance, risk management and compliance standards

This role offers exposure across the full development lifecycle within a structured and well-supported platform.

About You

You are an experienced renewable energy professional with exposure to greenfield development in the Australian market.

Essential skills and knowledge 

You will likely bring:

  • 8+ years' experience in energy project development and/or investment (renewables preferred)
  • Experience in project origination, development, engineering, finance or commercial functions
  • Strong understanding of development approvals and land access processes for greenfield projects
  • Familiarity with grid connection approvals for inverter-based generation and current NEM constraints
  • Experience preparing or supporting project investment cases
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability across landholders, councils and government agencies
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams across a portfolio
  • High ethical standards and commitment to values-based decision making
  • Adaptability and willingness to take ownership in a collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to travel as required
