Technical Authority for Nondestructive Testing related matters for all MP and Projects.
Provide oversight, consultation, and technical review of Nondestructive testing during tendering, assessing, inspecting, upgrading, commissioning and operating of all offshore and onshore equipment procured, constructed, installed and commissioned in support of all Major Projects and Projects.
As a competent expert and Technical Authority in Nondestructive Testing, has a very crucial role for all LNG projects to ensure the integrity of upstream and downstream facilities to support the State of Qatar fulfil its global commitment to Supply LNG and local commitment to supply pipeline gas.
Has expertise in NDT method selection and inspection requirements, particularly in extreme conditions.
Responsible for optimizing technique determination, inspection acceptance criteria ensure reliability and safety of equipment and infrastructure.
Directly impacts the performance and lifespan of LNG critical upstream and downstream equipment and systems rendering the role essential for preventing catastrophic failures and essential for optimizing project and lifecycle operational costs.
What are you going to do
Lead and act as an advisor for non-destructive inspection and testing (NDT) of critical goods used in fabrication, and construction of offshore and onshore facilities.
Ensure Contractor and Critical Sub-Contractors APPROVED Quality Plans include the correct provisions for NDT, Inspection and Welding Inspection as established by contract requirements.
Assist in the review and establishment of NDT requirements for planning and implementation of all Major Projects construction activities.
Develop and maintain specifications and standards for nondestructive testing and welding inspection used.
Responsible for working with Engineering and Operations in the development and implementation of Inspection Testing Plan and commissioning procedures for pipelines, topsides, and plant equipment.
Develop criteria to monitor and evaluate performance of Contractor NDT and Welding Performance.
Ensure application of contract specifications, industry standards and shareholder best practices as it relates to goods received from the manufacturer and returned from offshore
Participate in technical audits, reviews, investigations, assessments and spot checks to evaluate processes, procedures and performance of Non-destructive Testing and inspections.
Review non-conformances, technical queries, standard deviation requests and product / component issues.
Monitor and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to materials use in the oil and gas industry.
Essential skills and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in sciences or engineering
8 years’ experience in Quality in the Oil & Gas Industry, including 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
NDT Level III certification for a minimum of 8 years. Methods must include Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing and Liquid Penetrant Testing.
Welding inspector/engineering certification for a minimum of 10 years.
Superior knowledge of NDT methods, techniques, procedure preparation and personnel evaluation.
Understands sound quality and inspection practices including industry standards and specifications.
Knowledge of best practices and latest technology in meeting minimum industry standards and specifications (such as API, ASME, ASTM, DNV, NACE, ISO, etc.) for manufacturing, fabrication, inspecting, transporting, installation and storing oilfield equipment.
Experience with multiple Major Operators and other industries such as Nuclear, Aerospace, Structural, and Academic Research is desirable.
Working knowledge of codes and standards relating to the subject discipline in the oil and gas industry
Strong understanding of project phases, engineering, execution, and delivery, with demonstrated experience in project technical roles and experience of developing and implementing project processes and procedures
Strong discipline technical and leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively navigate complex stakeholder dynamics
Mentorship and/or coaching experience
Demonstrated experience in auditing, assessment, and review of manufacturing, fabrication, and Projects.
Member of an international institution specializing in material science related topics.
Proficiency using codes and specifications for Pipeline, topsides or downstream equipment, NACE Corrosion Engineering, Quality System Documentation and Continual Improvement Processes.
