Introduction

Brunel is partnering with a leading international Oil & Gas operator to recruit an experienced Project HSSE Manager for a major capital project in Indonesia.

This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for driving Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) performance throughout the project lifecycle, from detailed engineering and procurement through construction, commissioning, and start-up.

What are you going to do

  • Provide strategic HSSE leadership across all phases of the project, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and environmental performance.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Project HSSE Management System in accordance with corporate requirements and international industry standards.
  • Lead the HSSE team and provide technical guidance to EPC contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Life Saving Rules, Process Safety Management (PSM), Permit to Work (PTW), SIMOPS, Emergency Response, and Contractor HSSE Management programs.
  • Monitor contractor HSSE performance through regular audits, inspections, leadership site visits, and performance reviews.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, high-potential events, and near misses, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Drive behavioural safety initiatives and cultivate a proactive safety culture across multicultural project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations, international standards, and company HSSE requirements.
  • Prepare and present HSSE performance reports, KPIs, risk assessments, and executive updates to senior project leadership.
  • Interface with government authorities, regulatory agencies, joint venture partners, and external stakeholders on HSSE-related matters.
  • Support project readiness, commissioning, and start-up activities while maintaining a strong focus on operational risk management.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification in HSE or Project Management is advantageous.
  • Minimum 15 years of HSSE experience within the international Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven experience as Project HSSE Manager or Senior HSSE Manager on major capital projects.
  • Extensive experience supporting EPC, EPCM, EPCI, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Strong knowledge of international Oil & Gas industry standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience working within multicultural and international project environments.
