Introduction

Project Automation Engineer to lead end-to-end automation projects within a chemical processing environment. This role involves defining project scope, timelines, and budgets while coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and efficient execution.

Include designing and commissioning automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics), selecting hardware/software, and driving process improvements through Lean and continuous improvement strategies.

What are you going to do 

  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure on-time project completion
  • Design, develop, and commission automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, etc.)
  • Select appropriate hardware and software solutions to meet production needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and quality through automation
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies using automation tools
  • Provide technical support for automated systems during and after project execution
  • Ensure all automation systems comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies
  • Conduct risk assessments and support safety system design (e.g., safety PLCs, interlocks)
  • Prepare technical documentation, system manuals, wiring diagrams, and validation protocols (SOP, IQ/OQ/PQ)

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Proven experience in programming Siemens PLCs and HMI systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet)
  • Knowledge in computer systems (Domain/SQL/Visual Studio) & networking.
  • Hands-on experience with AVEVA SCADA systems.
  • Broad automation project management knowledge in regard to user requirements specifications definition, vendor management project execution, commissioning, and qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
  • Fluent in English; other language skills would be an advantage
  • In the area of responsibility, 5+ years in automation.
  • Experience in the chemical or FMCG industry.
  • Project Management experience (field) required
