Introduction

Join Rio Tinto as a Production Operator (Level 2 or 3) in the Pilbara. This permanent, full-time role offers competitive pay, flexible FIFO or residential rosters, and strong career growth. We're seeking experienced, safety-focused operators with proven skills on haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, or excavators. FIFO available from Perth, Albany, Busselton, and Geraldton.

What are you going to do 

As part of the Production Operator Team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operate a range of heavy mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner to support mining operations.
  • Work within a production team to ensure daily targets and productivity metrics are met.
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and report faults or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety and follow Rio Tinto's HSE standards and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Accurately complete daily production records and documentation.
  • Maintain housekeeping of machines and work areas.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Ideal candidates will have experience with the following equipment:

  • Loaders/Diggers: EX 2500, EX 3600, EX5600, LT 1850/2350, CAT 994, WA1200
  • Dozers: D10, D11
  • Graders: CAT16,18, 24
  • Auxiliary equipment: WA/WD900, FEL 992, CAT Wheel Dozer
  • AHS Mining experience favourable

Additional Requirements:

  • Hold at least one qualification from the equipment pool
  • Operate majority of the time on the primary equipment listed above
  • Demonstrated proficiency and consistency in production mining environments
  • Experience with Auxiliary Equipment such as: WA/WD900, CAT FEL 992, CAT Wheel Dozer
  • A Full manual C Class license
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
  • Experience working in an Open Cut Production environment operating large scale equipment
  • Permanent Australian residency without the need for Visa sponsorship
