A leading engineering consultancy seeks a UK-registered Chartered or Incorporated Mechanical (Pressure) Engineer for a high-profile UK mining redevelopment. Fully remote, 3-month call-on/call-off contract with working hours tailored to your needs. You will review, certify, and sign off mechanical deliverables, ensuring compliance with UK and international standards for pressure equipment and process systems.
Key Responsibilities
Review and certify final mechanical design documents, calculations, and construction-ready drawings.
Ensure compliance with UK legislation and international standards, including:
Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016
ASME VIII and applicable European (EN) pressure equipment codes
Provide sign-off for mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, compressed air receivers, rotating machinery, mechanical packages, and process systems.
Verify mechanical engineering aspects of FEED and detailed design across all relevant facilities.
Participate in QA processes, including design reviews and Responsible Charge oversight.
Escalate non-compliant work to Engineering Manager or Mechanical Lead as required.
Sign, date, and stamp final approved documents; drafts are not eligible for sign-off.
Professional Requirements
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
Registered with the Engineering Council UK
Member of a relevant institution (IMechE preferred)
Proven experience in pressure equipment, mining or mechanical plant, and UK regulatory compliance
Familiarity with EPC/EPCM execution environments and multidisciplinary coordination
