Lease Operator II

  • Location: Ardmore, OK
  • Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off - 40 hours per week (with potential overtime)

What are you going to do

Position Summary:

The Lease Operator II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units, and associated production facilities. The role focuses heavily on oil, gas, and water separation operations, major utilities, and overall field operations. This project includes on-site facility start-up, implementation of operating tools, procedures, work-permitting, and operational training. Candidates with experience in new facility start-ups are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure personal and co-worker safety; strictly follow and enforce all safety rules.
  • Issue Safe Work Permits and perform gas testing to verify safe working conditions.
  • Inspect safety equipment including safety valves, fire extinguishers, hoses, and breathing apparatus.
  • Conduct all work in compliance with environmental regulations, minimizing impacts such as spills and emissions. Operations & Monitoring
  • Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities.
  • Understand process flow, unit chemistry, isolation points, major line-ups, and all safety systems.
  • Inspect and monitor equipment using vision, hearing, smell, and touch.
  • Perform tank gauging, meter readings, sampling, leak checks, chemical rate checks, and freeze/overheat monitoring.
  • Conduct visual maintenance by checking temperature, pressure, flow rates, vibration, and other operating parameters.
  • Adjust local process settings to maintain product specifications and equipment within operating envelopes.
  • Monitor field equipment using handheld electronic devices and computer-based systems. Maintenance & Field Support
  • Perform basic maintenance such as adding lubricants, tightening valve packing, changing filters or traps, and clearing equipment.
  • Conduct winterization and summarization to ensure seasonal operational efficiency.
  • Verify control valve positions and report abnormal conditions.
  • Maintain accurate electronic or paper gauge sheets and document production changes.
  • Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicle in good working condition. Communication & Reporting
  • Communicate regularly with the Production Foreman regarding operational status and required actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and work independently while supporting team objectives.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; college degree or trade certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in oil & gas operations or a closely related role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team and multicultural environment.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts and be available for call-outs.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot production surface equipment.
  • Strong computer skills; good written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to lift >50 lbs and climb ladders/stairways.
  • Must be able to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other safety equipment
