Introduction

Brunel is representing a highly respected Tier 2 builder with a strong pipeline of commercial and retail projects across Queensland. Due to growth, we are now seeking a motivated Second-in-Charge (2IC) Foreman to support site leadership on two upcoming projects north of Brisbane.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Foreman or Leading Hand looking to step into a larger role with a builder known for delivering high-quality projects, supporting its people, and fostering long-term careers.

What are you going to do

As the 2IC Foreman, you'll work closely with the Site Foreman and Project Manager to ensure smooth daily site operations and successful delivery of projects. This role will give you exposure to all facets of site management, offering clear development pathways towards a future Site Foreman position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Site Foreman in overseeing all on-site operations
  • Supervise subcontractors, trades, and suppliers to maintain productivity and workflow
  • Ensure adherence to WHS regulations, environmental standards, and quality benchmarks
  • Assist in planning and sequencing works to keep projects on schedule
  • Coordinate site logistics, deliveries, and materials handling
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes
  • Lead daily pre-starts and toolbox talks, promoting a strong safety culture
  • Maintain site records including SWMS, ITPs, and daily reports
  • Work with the project team to resolve on-site issues and maintain clear communication with stakeholders
  • Contribute to mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative site culture

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Demonstrated experience as a Foreman or Leading Hand in commercial construction (retail project experience advantageous)

  • Sound knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and subcontractor management

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive site performance

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to delivering projects safely, on time, and to a high standard
