Introduction

The CSU (Commissioning, Start-Up) & Operations Readiness Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and execution of all commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities for a deepwater FPSO project. This role ensures seamless transition from construction to commissioning and then to steady-state operations while ensuring compliance with HSE, quality, and performance standards.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead and manage all CSU and operations readiness activities from engineering through to handover to operations.
  • Develop and implement the CSU strategy, plans, schedules, and procedures in alignment with project timelines and operational objectives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure system completion and integrity prior to commissioning and start-up.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of operations readiness plans, including training, procedures, systems, staffing, and logistics.
  • Establish and manage system completion and turnover dossiers, ensuring full documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safe and timely pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of FPSO systems.
  • Drive development of operating manuals, start-up procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Manage the interface between project teams and the future asset operations organization.
  • Ensure alignment with Indonesian regulations, local authority requirements, and company standards.
  • Lead the implementation of HSE standards during CSU activities.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of operational personnel to ensure a competent workforce is in place pre-startup.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in oil & gas projects, with at least 10 years in commissioning and operations readiness roles.
  • Proven experience in deepwater FPSO projects is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of system completion methodologies (e.g., ICAPS, CMS, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-discipline teams in a high-pressure, safety-critical environment.
  • Familiar with the Indonesian oil & gas regulatory framework and deepwater operational standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with international oil companies (IOCs) and joint ventures.
  • Knowledge of Indonesian language and culture is an advantage.
  • Certification in project management or commissioning practices is a plus.
