CSA Mine, Australia's highest-grade copper mine, is located 11 kilometres northwest of Cobar in central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of the country's deepest underground operations. Operating 24/7, CSA Mine directly employs over 500 people including contractors and is a critical part of the local community.
We are currently seeking an experienced Underground Autonomous Vehicle Technician to join our growing team. This is a rare opportunity for a skilled Tech, Electrician, or Auto Electrician with underground remote and autonomous vehicle experience to play a pivotal role in our technology-driven future.
About the Role
As an Underground Autonomous Vehicle Technician, you'll be at the cutting edge of underground automation, working directly with advanced autonomous equipment and Sandvik AutoMine systems. You'll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of autonomous underground loaders, trucks, and drills, with a strong focus on electrical, control, and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot underground autonomous vehicles and associated systems
Perform electrical and electronic diagnostics and preventative maintenance
Repair and maintain components including electric drives, control panels, and power distribution units
Collaborate with OEM engineers and site teams to continuously improve system performance
Ensure compliance with electrical safety and mining regulations
Assist with training maintenance personnel in automation system operation and diagnostics
Support software upgrades, calibrations, and infrastructure upgrades within the AutoMine ecosystem
About You
Electrical or Auto Electrical trade qualification, or relevant technical background
Proven experience working on autonomous or remote-operated underground vehicles
Hands-on experience with Sandvik AutoMine systems preferred
Solid knowledge of underground mining equipment (loaders, trucks, drills)
Skilled in interpreting schematics and troubleshooting electrical faults
Strong problem-solving ability and commitment to safety
Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Roster: 7/7 (day/night shift)
Commute Options: Residential in Cobar, DIDO, or FIFO from Brisbane or Sydney
Camp Accommodation: Single rooms with meals provided for DIDO/FIFO employees
