Introduction

Brunel Energy is working with a major Oil and Gas company looking to hire a Sr System Controls Engineer to join their team in Houston, TX for a 12-month contract with possibility of becoming a permanent employee. Please note that all candidates must be eligible to work in the USA full time without sponsorship.

What are you going to do

Examine EPC contractor instrumentation and control design for consistency and to meet all other engineering discipline requirements, including but not limited to: • Review Control system Wiring Diagrams and Loop Diagrams. • Understanding of Safety Logic definition including Cause & Effect, and logic narratives. • Understanding of DCS/SIS/FGS & SCADA systems. • Review Instrument location plans, Installation details against best practices, specification & standards. • Understand compliance of instrument design with applicable codes and regulations. Provide input on instrument design as necessary. • Understanding of process & safety instrumentation applications. • Understand Process Control and Safety system input to P&IDs. • Understand Instrument Index, I/O List. • Understanding of instrument Selection and Sizing Calculations; review instrument datasheets. • Understand Instrument Specifications & Technical Bid Tabulations. • Review Equipment layout drawings. • Review Control Panel drawings. 2. Support for agency compliance efforts (FERC, PHMSA) 3. Participate in P&ID, Process Hazard Analyses, and Model Reviews and provide technical support to other risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability reviews. 4. Willingness to travel as business requirements dictate.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (PE) License in good standing is preferred. Must possess or be able to attain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. • Experience: Minimum of six (6) years in Instrumentation and Controls design, preferably with EPC experience. Experience evaluating, selecting appropriate instrumentation and instrumentation drawing and datasheet review. Working knowledge of Oil and Gas industry codes and standards. • Skills: o Strong administrative abilities are required. o Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. o Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy. o Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. o Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
