Introduction

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician with a strong HD Fitter background and experience in engine rebuilds, overhauls, gas/diesel engines, or heavy mobile equipment maintenance. This role is ideal for skilled tradespeople looking to work across critical power generation assets, performing preventative maintenance, fault finding, and major mechanical maintenance activities in an industrial environment.

What are you going to do

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute routine and major mechanical maintenance actives across all power generation assets in accordance with the maintenance plan.
  • Operate and maintain gas/diesel reciprocating engines and electrical power generation equipment.
  • Operate and maintain all mechanical balance of plant equipment.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner, weekly plans are adhered and that daily tasks do not affect the supply of power to the business.
  • Ensure statutory compliance is adhered too. In relation to classified plant, gas fitting works and the environment.
  • Compliance to SAP maintenance strategies, plan work and avoid reactive maintenance.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical trade qualification
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of Gas/ Diesel Reciprocating Engines & Balance of Plant OR Heavy Mobile Equipment overhaul experience, specifically engine rebuilds
  • Experience working in the power generation industry
  • A current "C Class" WA Manual Driver's Licence
  • High Risk Work Licence - Forklift and Dogging (desirable)
  • Experience and an understanding of Work Management Processes & Practices.
  • Experience with SAP at Tradesperson Level (desirable)
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of LM6000 Gas Turbines & Balance of Plant (desirable)
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of Solar Gas Turbines & Balance of Plant (desirable)
  • Experience with routine servicing of gas systems for Type B gas appliances (Desirable)
  • Supervised Gas Fitter Qualification (Desirable)
