Introduction

An opportunity is available for an experienced HSE Advisor to join a civil and earthworks project on Barrow Island. This is an initial casual contract with scope to transition into a long term role for the right person.Working a 2:2 roster, you will provide hands-on HSE support within an Oil & Gas project environment, helping ensure work is undertaken safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and site requirements.

What are you going to do

As HSE Advisor, you will provide hands-on safety support across the project and help ensure work is completed in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, legislation and relevant industry standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing practical HSE advice and support to project personnel and contractors
  • Supporting safe delivery of civil and earthworks activities
  • Monitoring compliance with HSE legislation, procedures and industry standards
  • Assisting with work-area planning, scheduling and HSE program activities
  • Conducting audits, inspections and assurance activities
  • Supporting Integrated Management Systems across safety, quality and environment
  • Engaging with supervisors and workforce personnel to resolve HSE issues
  • Promoting positive safety behaviours and continuous improvement across the project

Essential skills and knowledge 

Ideally, you will bring 7+ years' HSE experience within Oil & Gas, although experienced HSE Officers with strong relevant project backgrounds will also be considered. You will ideally have:

  • Strong Oil & Gas, civil, earthworks or major project HSE experience
  • Sound understanding of HSE legislation, standards and codes of practice
  • Experience with work-area planning, scheduling and program management
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Internal and/or Lead Auditor accreditation across Integrated Management Systems, including OHS, Quality and Environment
  • Tertiary qualification in Science, Health, Safety & Environment or a related discipline (Bachelor's or Master's qualifications preferred)
  • Current White Card
  • Current First Aid - within 3 years
  • Current CPR - within 1 year
  • Gas Test Atmospheres - within 3 years
  • Current driver's licence
  • Australian working rights sponsorship is not available on this role
  • Ability to obtain/provide a police clearance and required identification
