Introduction

  • Responsible for overseeing Civil/Structural engineering discipline and FEED Contractor in delivery of all aspects of civil/structural design to ensure technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule.
  • Ensures technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, procedures, etc. developed during fully comply with project requirements.
  • Provide clear guidance to the FEED contractor and facilitate resolution of technical issues to complete civil/structural engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones.
  • Provide engineering surveillance on FEED and civil/structural deliverables.
  • This position is dynamic and requires high commitment and responsibility to ensure all technical activities associated with the civil and structural engineering discipline, and all third parties such as vendors, consultants, subcontractors etc. are executed to offplot Project’s specifications and requirements.
  • Major challenges for this role include (1) effectively guide FEED and contractor, including vendors and subcontractors and pre-comm/comm team to produce timely deliverables to meet project milestones (2) maintaining constructive working relationship with FEED contractor, including vendors and subcontractors to ensure delivery and execution of work scope in accordance with project specifications/requirements. (3) maintaining good relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Operations, quality, engineering, construction) to ensure alignment of civil structural work execution

What are you going to do 

  • Demonstrate personal SHES leadership and excellent SHES behaviors at all times.
  • Perform as a safety leader through setting and exhibiting the highest safety standards of behavior and actions to the workforce.
  • Ensure civil and structural engineering activities are conducted in accordance with local regulatory requirements, codes and standards, project specifications and industry practices.
  • Ensure that Contractors/Subcontractors are conducting engineering design in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and safe practices.
  • Coordinate, analyze discipline issues for resolution and resolve civil structural discipline issues timely to ensure engineering designs meet Offplot Project’s expectations and objectives.
  • Ensure approved design recommendations and programs are utilized by the Project to improve design integrity, reduce inefficiencies, and maintain high safety and risks standards.
  • Steward Contractors’ civil structural design and execution activities in accordance with specifications, verify adequacy of Contractor resources and personnel competency for the tasks, employment of appropriate tools including use of approved technical software.
  • Provide Civil Structural engineering input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement, Quality etc. as necessary.
  • Support FEED, commissioning and system completion activities and make appropriate recommendations to management on civil structural discipline matters.
  • Carry-out technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of electrical, telecom & Instrumentation related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes to meet technical and execution expectations.
  • Lead Civil & Structural interface coordination with onplot, offplot, RLIC, or any third party, as required, during FEED.
  • Monitor discipline schedule and progress.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8 years’ diversified experience in Civil Engineering discipline in large oil & gas projects, with 5 years in engineering execution including knowledge of design standards, industry standards/codes/practices, and onshore LNG facilities.
  • FEED experience is required.
  • Experience in large tank foundations design is an advantage
  • Brownfield engineering and execution knowledge
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • Strong leadership skills, personal integrity, experience guiding and assisting contractor teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, coordination and planning skills.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills and ability to interact / interface at all levels.
  • Good mediation skills including conflict resolution, problem-solving, creative thinking, influencing and empathy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software programs, etc.
  • Deep knowledge of industry codes, standards and practices for civil Discipline
