What are you going to do

We are partnering with our client, a respected organization in the Oil and Gas sector, to appoint a Senior Project Engineer to join our client's team in Chennai on a contract basis. This is a high-impact role leading multidisciplinary EPC projects for liquid storage terminals, tank farms, marine jetties, pipelines and associated infrastructure. You will drive projects from engineering through commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost and statutory compliance targets are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Review engineering deliverables, construction drawings, specifications and contractor submissions.
  • Manage civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and process interfaces.
  • Supervise storage tank, marine jetty, pipeline and utility infrastructure execution.
  • Monitor project schedule, cost, quality, HSE and contractor performance.
  • Coordinate procurement follow-up, vendor inspections, FAT, SAT and logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ASME, OISD, NFPA, IEC, IS, PESO and project specifications.
  • Prepare DPR/WPR/MPR, progress dashboards, risk registers and recovery plans.
  • Support QA/QC, punch-list closure, mechanical completion and commissioning.
  • Prepare as-built documentation and handover dossiers.
  • EPC project execution and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Knowledge of storage terminals, marine jetties, pipelines and utilities.
  • Project planning, contractor management, risk management and project controls.
  • Software: Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, AutoCAD, MS Office.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • BE / B. Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation or Chemical Engineering. PMP or equivalent project management certification is desirable.
  • Experience: 8-15 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Tank Terminal, Marine Jetty or Pipeline EPC projects with strong site execution and multidisciplinary coordination experience.
  • Experience in greenfield and brownfield liquid terminal infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex CAPEX projects in operating facilities.
